Use this program to:

Before using this program: In order to do the comparison, the data must be captured. Contact Thermeon's Customer Support Dept. to set up a scheduled program to capture each day's data for this purpose. To enter historical data, refer to the Edit Operating Statistics Chapter of the CARS+ Manual.

To access the Daily Operations Report program, type DLYOPS (RET) at any menu "OPTION:" field or the appropriate number on the Additional Daily Reports Sub-Menu located on the Daily Procedures Menu. The screen will then display:

OPTION: DAILY OPERATIONS REPORT

4 Print/Display P Printer: prtspool

1PRINT 2 3ERASE 4 5BACKUP 6 7HELP 8

Enter data as follows:

1. REPORT DATE

Using your selected date format, enter the date for which you wish to obtain the report. Press (RET) to default to yesterday's date.

EXAMPLE: Press (RET)

2. LOCATION

Enter up to 6 alphanumeric characters representing the Location Code or Group Code for the report or press (RET) to default to "ALL" locations. Note, for this report, a Location Group will trigger "subtotal roll-ups" (if the group contains groups within groups, subtotals will print for each group level). For more information on this feature, refer to the section on Subtotal Roll-Ups at the end of the Edit Group Names chapter.

EXAMPLE: Type +SOCAL (RET)

3. COMPARE TO

The purpose of this report is to compare rentals and reservation build for the date requested with the same day of the week from the comparison period - either last week, last month, or last year.

Enter:

W = Compare to the same day of week last week. If running the report for a Friday, data will be compared to Friday of last week. In the case of the example above, Thursday, April 16 would be compared to Thursday, April 9.

M = Compare to last month. Data will be compared to the same day of the week 4 weeks ago. That is, 28 days is subtracted from the date entered in Field 1. This allows us to compare a Monday to a Monday or a Friday to a Friday. In our example, the comparison date for Thursday, April 16 would be Thursday, March 19.

Note: Because of this "28-day" calculation, comparisons for days at the end of the month can be meaningless. For instance if you ran the report on May 31 using the default date of May 30 and comparing to last month, you would be comparing to May 2. The month-to-date rentals for the "previous period" would be for only 2 days.

Y = Compare to last year. Data will be compared to the day that is 364 days earlier than it. This rule is followed to allow you to compare a Monday this year to a Monday last year. In our example, Thursday, April 16, 2009, would be compared to Thursday, April 17, 2008.

Note: In using the "28-day" calculation for month comparisons and the "364-day" calculation for year comparisons, the concentration is on the day of the week - which is much more meaningful in the rental business than the actual date.

User tip: Regardless of which choice is made, the Cumulative Month-To-Date columns always will show the beginning of the month through the date requested.

EXAMPLE: Type Y (RET)

4. PRINT/ DISPLAY

This allows you to print a hard copy on a printer or display the report on the terminal.

P = Print a hard copy of this report on your terminal's assigned printer. See the Edit Terminal Records Chapter for instructions on how to assign printers.

D = Display this report on this screen. See the General Data Entry Instructions Chapter on how to control the screen display.

EXAMPLE: Type P (RET)

Notes on the Daily Operations Report:

General Comment: Note that this report is being run for April 16, 2009 and the data is being compared to last month.

➊ These columns show that 46contracts were opened for the report date, Thursday, April 16, 2009. And 67 contracts opened last month on Thursday, March 19, 2009 (28 days ago). A comparison is made and the increase or decrease over last month's number is shown as a percent in the column to the right. In this case there is a decrease of -31.34% compared to last month.

➋ These columns show 868contracts have been opened so far during April (month-to-date, in this case through April 16), and 810 contracts opened last month through March 16, 2009. The comparison shows that the increase is 7.16%.

➌ This group of columns shows thatthere are 37 reservations for the current day (the date the report was printed, Friday, April 17, 2009). For the similar Friday last month, March 20, 2009 (28 days earlier) there were 47. The comparison shows a decrease of 21.27% from March to April.

➍ This group of columns shows thatthere is a build up of 118 reservations for the next 7 days, Saturday, April 18 through Friday, April 24, 2009. For the similar 7-day period last month, Saturday, March 21, through Friday, March 27, 2009 there were 100 reservations. The comparison shows an increase of 18.00% from March to April.

➎ These last 2 columns show the number of Turndowns for the reported date and month to date. Turndowns are entered via the Enter Turndown Counts program. If there is a zero in either of these columns then no turndowns occurred on that day. If the code "N/A" (not available) appears, that indicates that the turndown count for that day was never entered. Historic turndown counts that were missed can be entered via the Enter Turndown Counts program.
