Use this program to define the basic features of additional devices besides terminals that are used at the counter. This may include devices such as credit card readers, "sign-on-glass" signature capture devices, and payment service devices.

• Devices which are directly connected to the client's Local Area Network (LAN) must be defined here (such as the Equinox L5300 signature capture device). When a device is connected to the network, it becomes necessary to tell each workstation which device it should use. This also allows more than one workstation to share a single device.
• Devices which are directly connected to a PC workstation (such as a Magtek keyboard emulation card swipe reader) DO NOT need to be defined here.
• Payment service devices (also called PIN Pad or PIN entry devices)
• Main data input devices such as a VDT, PC, handheld terminal, tablet, cell phone, etc. are defined in the Edit Terminal Types program.

Worldpay Users: This program cannot be used to define Worldpay terminal devices. A separate program, Lane Management, is used for this purpose. This program will be used only to define the "Card-Not-Present" device.

A record must exist in this file for each individual device or device combination. As a result, the unit serial number or some other unique identifier should be used in the first field. The individual devices set up in this file will be assigned to counter terminals by the use of the device fields in Edit Terminal Records.

NOTE: Thermeon Customer Support must set up a GVT record to enable any of these network device types to be used. The GVT record will tell CARS+ which "handler" program to use to communicate with the device and at what IP address and Port number the handler will be found. This GVT record must be set up first because the name of the GVT record is used in this program.

To access the Edit Counter Devices program, type DEVICES (RET) at any menu "OPTION:" field or the appropriate line number on the System Configuration menu. The screen will then display:

Enter data as follows:

1. DEVICE NAME	Enter up to 40 alphanumeric characters to indicate the unique identifier of the device to be used. This can be any code that you wish, one suggestion is the manufacturer's serial number. This is the code that the device will be "known" by in other CARS+ screens. EXAMPLE: Type 594088 (RET)
2. SWIPE TYPE	Enter one of the following codes: 01 = this is a Magtek or Magtek-compatible device used to swipe credit cards and driver's licenses. 02 = this is an Equinox L5300 device with an activated card swipe reader. blank = this device will not be used to swipe credit cards or driver's licenses. EXAMPLE: Type 02 (RET)
3. SIGNATURE TYPE	Enter one of the following codes: 02 = this is an Equinox L5300 sign-on-glass device. blank = this device will not be used to collect an electronic copy of the renter's signature. EXAMPLE: Type 02 (RET)
4. PINPAD TYPE	Enter one of the following codes: 03 = this is a Thermeon Payments Service PIN Pad device used for processing payment cards (credit cards, debit cards, gift cards, checkcards, etc.) blank = this device will not be used to process payment cards. EXAMPLE: Type 03 (RET) User tip: For locations using Windcave and Worldpay services this must be set to '03'.
5. ADDRESS	This field accepts up to 40 alpha numeric characters to identify the device. For Equinox devices: The format must be host name (colon ":") port designation. Obtain the proper value for this field from your CARS+ Customer Support Representative or your system administrator. EXAMPLE: Type CPEDC.THERMEON.COM:8222 (RET) For Windcave devices: The address should be in the format of “processor|device-number” (lowercase), and the device number is assigned by the payment processor. EXAMPLE: Type: windcave|4071493187 For Worldpay devices: This program cannot be used to define Worldpay terminal devices. A separate program, Lane Management, is used for this purpose. This program will be used only to define the "Card-Not-Present" device. For the Card-Not-Present device, the address must be in the format "worldpay|location_code-888" (all lowercase). It is recommended that the head office location code be used for this purpose. EXAMPLE: Type: worldpay|tus-888
6. IDENTIFICATION	This field is only used for Equinox L5300 devices. Enter up to 14 alphanumeric characters to indicate the HYC SN code for a Equinox L5300 device. This code will be displayed as part of the Equinox L5300 configuration process and may appear on a sticker on the bottom of the device. EXAMPLE: Type 105227594095 (RET)
