(It is assumed that the user is already familiar with the Edit Terminal Records chapter of this manual.)

With the CARS+ Internet product, the Edit Terminal Records File is used to define a user -- not a piece of equipment. Because the user may "float" from one rental location to another or may log in from a hotel or from home, it becomes necessary to define for the system what location and drawer number should apply to transactions done by the user during his or her current session. In addition, the type of printer being used can be defined.

Other individual programs can be used to make these temporary changes from the default choices that have been assigned in Edit Terminal Records. These other programs are:

Change RA Printer

Change Report Printer

The Change User Environment program allows all of these changes plus the change to one's Current Location and Cash Drawer to be made on one screen. It can also be set up so that it is automatically invoked for certain users every time they log into the system. The automatic use of this feature is controlled by a field in the Edit User Access File located on the Security Menu.

Using this program to change location, drawer, and/or printers does not a permanent change to the Terminal Record. It is a temporary change for the present session only. Any changes made with this program will remain in effect until either an additional change is made or the user logs ends the session.

To access this program, type CHGENV(RET) at any menu "OPTION:" field or the appropriate line number from the System Configuration menu. The screen will display as follows:
