Access to a menu and all items under that menu and sub-menus is granted by placing a plus sign (+) after the desired item. To withhold access, enter a negative sign (-) after the desired item. EXAMPLES: By typing a plus sign at Field 2, you are granting access to the Reservation Menu and all programs on that menu, create Reservation, Res. Manifest, etc. By leaving the negative sign in Field 3, entry to the RA Menu and its related programs is blocked. |
This process can be repeated for each menu and sub-menu within the CARS+ system. Remember, you MUST press "F1" and save each menu or sub-menu for which selections have been made.

GRANTING LIMITED ACCESS
To limit access to sub-menu items, you must first grant access to the sub-menu, save the selection, and then enter the sub-menu to make the desired choices. Using the Main Menu as an example, establishing limited access to items on the Reservation sub-menu is accomplished as follows:
At Field 2, type a + (RET). This will grant access to all items in the Reservation Menu.
Then enter the acronym, RESMENU, in Field 1. This will cause the Reservation Menu items to be displayed on the screen. Re-select items by replacing the (+) symbol with a (-) symbol. When selections are complete, press "F1" to save the results.
This process can be repeated for each menu and sub-menu within the CARS+ system. Remember, you MUST press "F1" and save each menu or sub-menu for which selections have been made.
NOTE: RENTAL ACCOUNTING MENU -- By placing a plus sign in on the listing for the RealWorld Accounting Menu access is granted to the REALWORLD accounting system's Main Menu. To limit access on the various accounting module menus use the REALWORLD security programs. See the REALWORLD appendix chapter of the manual for instructions on how to create REALWORLD Passwords.
After all selections have been made on a Menu Type and saved, press "F8" to return to Page One in order to work on a new Menu Type or press "ESC" to exit the program.
User tip:
From time to time you may want to add one or two programs to a user’s access. However, other users who share the same Menu Type should not be allowed access to the new program. Rather than creating a new menu type from scratch, the Clone Menus program can be used to duplicate an existing menu and assign it a new Menu Type and Number. The new record can then be edited here.
