Use this program to show that vehicles have been moved into a staging lot. The Quick Damage Entry screen may be accessed from this program.

Some operations, especially those serving airports, have insufficient space at the actual rental location for the entire fleet. This necessitates having one or more off site staging lots for cleaning, prepping, and storing vehicles between rentals. Making use of the Vehicle Staging logic helps in tracking the fleet between the time the vehicles are returned on rentals and when they are made available for the next rental.

When a Vehicle Staging entry is saved, the Vehicle Inventory record is updated with the current lot location. To manage the vehicles in the off-site lots, the Lot Controller program is used. It is a dynamic display of the number of vehicles by class in each of these staging lots.

NOTE: This program does not change the status of the vehicle.

To access the Vehicle Staging program, type VEHSTAGE (RET) at any menu "OPTION:" field or the appropriate line number on the Dispatch menu. The screen will display as follows:

OPTION: __ VEHICLE STAGING

1 Vehicle # 2 License #
3 Lot #
Location Class/Desc
Grounding Odom
Grounding Date

Owning Loc
Date/Time

1SAVE 2 3ERASE 4 5BACKUP 6 7HELP 8DAMAGE

Enter data as follows:

1. VEHICLE #

The vehicle record can be accessed by either entering the unit number in this field or the license plate number in Field 2. To bring up the vehicle by the license plate number, leave this field blank and proceed to Field 2. To bring up the unit by the vehicle number, enter the unit number * to indicate the vehicle record to update.

EXAMPLE: Type 14131 (RET)

*If the system is configured to require a vehicle check digit, enter that character after the unit number. After the check digit is entered and used to validate the vehicle number, it is automatically erased off the screen.

EXAMPLE: Type 914592A (RET)

2. LICENSE #

If the unit number was entered in Field 1, this field displays the vehicle license plate number. If field 1 was left blank enter up to 12 characters representing the vehicle license plate number.

EXAMPLE: Type JEG188 (RET)

3. LOT #

Enter up to 2 numeric characters for the staging lot number. The Lot number must already exist in the Lot Number file and must match the vehicle's current location. The lot must not be a "rentable" lot (one that vehicles can be rented from) and the lot must not be defined as one that has numbered stalls. (See Edit Lot Number chapter for details.)

EXAMPLE: Type 11 (RET)

The screen will then display:

OPTION: __ VEHICLE STAGING

1 Vehicle # 014131 2 License # JEG188
3 Lot # 11

Grounding Odom 25000

Press F1 at the "OPTION" field to save the entry.

Damages: If new damage needs to be recorded on the vehicle, press the F8 key when the cursor is at the "OPTION:" field to access the Quick Damage Entry program.

Streamlined version:

The system can be configured to use a streamlined version of Vehicle Staging and Make Vehicle Available. In the streamlined version, the user is not prompted to enter their username and password; the warnings about existing damage are not displayed; and the user is not asked if a ready ticket should be printed. To have your system configured for this version, contact Thermeon's Customer Support Dept. and ask that GVT record 'MAKAVLAU' be set up.
