Recreational Vehicles (RVs) often come equipped with gasoline powered electrical generators. Much like an odometer on a vehicle, these devices come with a gauge that tracks the number of hours of use. The use of these generators are often charged at a rate per hour. This chapter summarizes the set-up steps necessary for charging for generator hours.
- Set up an option for the regular hourly rate for generator use.
- In Option Rate:
- The hourly rate is placed in the Primary Rate Column.
- Calculation Method = "F"
- Auto-Apply = "D"
- Optionally you can set up a second Option for unlimited generator use that is sold on tour vouchers.
- In Option Rate:
- The price again is placed in the Primary Rate Column
- Calculation method = can be either "F" (for a one time charge) or "D" (for a daily rate).
- Tour Only = "Y".
- Auto-Apply = blank
Place the two Option Codes defined above in the two Generator Option Code fields.
D. Free Generator Hours Included in the Rental RateFor vehicles with an installed generator, the following two fields must be updated to turn on the feature for each vehicle:
On page Two, enter data as follows:
9. OPTION CODE
Enter the Option Code for the regular hourly rate charge for generator use.
11. GENERATOR HOURS Enter the current meeter reading for the generator. It is the combination of this field being non-zero and the Generator Option Code being in field 9 that turns on the charge for generator use when this vehicle is rented.
Optionally, an allowance of free generator hours can be included in the basic rental rate. This is defined in two fields of Edit Rental Rules and Rates.
When opening a rental for a vehicle equipped with a generator, on the Main Window of RA Open the user is prompted to enter the opening meter reading. This field cannot be left blank. The Option Code for the regular hourly rate charge is added automatically to the rental agreement if the rental does not have a tour voucher with the Unlimited Generator Hours Option included.
