Use this program in hand-held mode to:

• Allow a user of a hand-held unit to change the current status of a vehicle.
• Assign a vehicle to a specific parking lot and parking stall number.
• Update the odometer and fuel reading.
• The Quick Damage Entry screen may be accessed from this program.

NOTE: This program works in a similar manner to the regular Make Vehicle Available program. Therefore, only the differences will be addressed in this chapter.

To access the Make Vehicle Available program, type MAK (RET) at any menu "OPTION:" field or the appropriate line number on the Dispatch menu. The screen will then display:

Notes:

Damages: If new damage needs to be recorded on the vehicle, press the F8 key when the cursor is at the "OPTION:" field to access the Quick Damage Entry program

License # field: Because license plate numbers have a hyphen in them and there is no hyphen on the hand held terminal keypad, entering a period in the License # field is interpreted as a hyphen. For example, entering“ABC.123” will cause a search on license plate # “ABC-123”.

Grounding odom/Date: This field displays the grounding odometer and date from the vehicle record. It cannot be changed here.

Messages on the hand-held units display the short text version of the message (as set up in the Message File).
