At times, the individual renting the car is not the same as the person on the corresponding reservation. This can be the case when:
  1. The spelling of the name was wrong on the reservation.
  2. An associate of the reserved customer actually rents the car.

Because of these obvious situations, CARS+ does not require that the two names match. However, in order to note this situation, a field in Edit Misc Control File (Validate Res Name, pg 7, Field 30) can be used to turn on a warning message when opening a RA if the renter name and reservation name do not match. In addition it causes a pop-window to automatically display requiring a reason for the mismatch. This reason is noted on the second line of data on the Res Name Variance Report under the location and reservation number.

Be aware that by mismatching reservations to RAs there is a possibility for fraudulent reporting of upsells. For example, a walk-up customer in the afternoon could be matched with a no-show reservation from the morning which was for a smaller class of car. Although there is no way to prevent this, the Res Name Variance is designed to find incidents of name differences that may need to be investigated further.

To access the Res Name Variance Report program, type RESNAME (RET) at any menu "OPTION:" field or the appropriate line number on the Reservations Menu. The screen will display:
