Only those fields applicable to each operation are listed in the following sections:

I. CHANGE MODEL CODES (Select "A" in Field 1)

1. PROGRAM TASK

This option allows you to correct model codes in the Vehicle File by changing a model code to another code. As an example, if a vehicle has the model TRS assigned but the correct code is TAURUS, this option can be used to make the correction. To select this option, enter the letter "A" in Field 1.

EXAMPLE: Type A (RET)

2. MODEL CODE

Enter the model code you want to change.

EXAMPLE: Type TRS (RET)

3. MODEL YEAR

Enter 2 numeric characters to indicate the year of this model of vehicle or press (RET) to accept the default of ALL model years of this model.

EXAMPLE: Type 06 (RET)

4. NEW MODEL CODE

Enter the correct model code.

EXAMPLE: Type TAURUS (RET)

5. OWNING LOC

Enter up to 6 alphanumeric characters to limit this process to a particular owning location or press (RET) to accept the default of ALL locations.

EXAMPLE: Type TUS (RET)

Fields 7 through 19 determine what other data from the new Model Code record will overwrite existing data in the Vehicle records.

PRESS "F1" TO BEGIN PROCESSING.

II. PURGE UNUSED CODES (Select "B" in Field 1)

1. PROGRAM TASK

This option purges Model Code records that do not match any model name in the Vehicle Inventory File. To select this option, enter the letter "B" in Field 1.

EXAMPLE: Type B (RET).

5. OWNING LOC

Enter up to 6 alphanumeric characters to limit this process to a particular owning location or press (RET) to accept the default of ALL locations.

EXAMPLE: Type TUS (RET)

PRESS "F1" TO BEGIN PROCESSING.

III. RESET VEHICLE VALUES FROM MODEL CODES (Select "C" in Field 1)

Program task "C", Reset Vehicle Values form Model Codes, allows the user to make global updates to vehicles in the Vehicle File from the Model Table. For example, if it is discovered that all Ford Mustangs were originally infleeted with a 12 gallon gas tank when they really has a 15.2 gallon tank, correcting the tank size in Edit Model Codes and then running this program with Task C and a "Y" in Field 11, will cause the tank sizes to be corrected on each individual vehicle.

1. PROGRAM TASK

This option is used to make global changes to all vehicles with the same model code. Generally, this is done after a field has been changed on an established Model Code record through the Edit Model Code program. To select this option, enter the letter "C" in Field 1.

EXAMPLE: Type C (RET)

2. MODEL CODE

Enter up to 8 alphanumeric characters to indicate a model code.

EXAMPLE: Type TAURUS (RET)

3. MODEL YEAR

Enter 2 numeric characters to indicate the year of this model of vehicle or press (RET) to accept the default of ALL model years of this model.

EXAMPLE: Type 06 (RET)

5. OWNING LOC

Enter up to 6 alphanumeric characters to limit this process to a particular owning location or press (RET) to accept the default of ALL locations.

EXAMPLE: Type TUS (RET)

7. THROUGH 17.

Fields 7 through 17 are Yes/No (Y/N) fields which determine what data from the Model Code record will overwrite existing data in the Vehicle records. For example, to change service code flags for a given model, first edit the Model Code record. Then after entering data in the fields mentioned above, change the response for “Service Flags”, to "Y".

WARNINGS:

CLASS: Global changes to Vehicle Class cannot be done via this program. If there is a need to change Classes on a working system, contact Thermeon's Customer Support Dept. for assistance.

Field 9 - VIN: Because the Model Code record carries only the first 8 characters of the VIN number, answering "Y" by “VIN” will overwrite any complete VIN numbers stored in the vehicle records.

PRESS "F1" TO BEGIN PROCESSING.

18. UPDATE GROUNDING
This field is also a Yes/No (Y/N) field that can be used to update both the grounding odometer and grounding date fields in the Inventory file.

For non-Hertz users:
If an update is indicated, both the Grounding Odometer and Grounding Date fields will be updated if default grounding data is present in the Model Code.

For Hertz users:
If an update is indicated, only those vehicles with an Acquisition Code of "Y" will have ther the Grounding Odometer and Grounding Date updated if you are using CARRENT.

EXAMPLE: Type Y (RET)

19. UPDATE REPLACEMENT COST
This is a Yes/No (Y/N) field used to specify if the replacement cost field should be updated.

20. OPTION CODE
Like the fields 7-17, this Yes/No field requests that the current value in the field INV Option from the Model Code record be loaded into all vehicles with the matching Model Code and Model Year.

EXAMPLE: Type Y (RET)

IV. CLONE MODEL CODES FROM YEAR TO YEAR (Select "D" in Field 1)

1. PROGRAM TASK

This option is used to clone the model codes from one year to a newer year. A single model code or all model codes can be selected. To select this option, enter the letter "D" in Field 1.

EXAMPLE: Type D (RET)

2. MODEL CODE

Enter up to 8 alphanumeric characters to indicate a model code or enter ALL to clone all model codes from a particular year.

EXAMPLE: Type TAURUS (RET)

3. MODEL YEAR

Enter 2 numeric characters to indicate the year of this model to clone from.

EXAMPLE: Type 06 (RET)

4. NEW MODEL YEAR

Enter 2 numeric characters to indicate the new model year.

Note: this year must be a more recent year than the one entered in Field 3.

EXAMPLE: Type 07 (RET)

PRESS "F1" TO BEGIN PROCESSING.

CHANGING CLASS CODES

One of the fields in the Model Table that CANNOT be globally changed through this program is Class Code. Because Class Code is so critical to many files and programs within CARS+ a special program is required to change that field. Because of the sensitive nature of this program, access is limited to Thermeon Customer Support personnel only. Contact your local Customer Support office if this is required. See the chapter on Change Class Codes for a brief description of this program.
