The Selected Customer Label program allows you to produce mailing labels for customers in the Customer File. This program is designed to use 3.5" x 15/16" Two Across labels such as Avery's #4030 labels. When printing labels, it is recommended that your printer be set at 10 characters per inch (10cpi).

For those operations using the Extended Address feature of CARS+, the "Correspondence Address" field on page 3 of the Customer Record is used to indicate whether the customer's home address or employer address should be used in printing these labels.

User Tip: This program will print to the Accounting Forms Printer. Please refer to the Edit Terminal Records Chapter for instructions on how to assign and printers and/or change printer types.

To access the Selected Customer Labels program, type CUSTLBL(RET) at any menu "OPTION:" field or the appropriate line number on the Customer Maintenance Menu. The screen will then display:

Enter Data As Follows:

1. CUST TYPE

Enter up to 3 alphanumeric characters to select a single Customer Type code. Press RET to default to ALL Customer Types.

2. START CUST #

Enter up to 6 alphanumeric characters to indicate the Starting Customer Number. Press RET to default to the First customer on file.

EXAMPLE: Type 101 (RET)

3. END CUST #

Enter up to 6 alphanumeric characters to indicate the Ending Customer Number. Press RET to default to the Last customer on file.

4. START NAME

Enter up to 18 alphanumeric characters to indicate the Starting Customer last name. Press RET to default to the First last name on file.

5. END NAME

Enter up to 18 alphanumeric characters to indicate the Ending Customer last name. Press RET to default to the Last name on file.

6. START ZIP CODE

Enter up to 10 alphanumeric characters to indicate the Starting Zip Code. Press RET to default to the First Zip Code on file.

Enter up to 10 alphanumeric characters to indicate the Ending Zip Code. Press RET to default to the Last Zip Code on file.

Using your selected date format, enter the Starting Entry Date. Customers who were first entered into the Customer File on a date earlier than the one entered here will not have a label printed. Press RET to default to "Earliest".

9. END ENTRY DATE

Using your selected date format, enter the Ending Entry Date. Press RET to default to "Latest".

Note: The size of the date range you can enter may be restricted by your system access level (see the Chapter for the program, Edit User Access). If you enter a date range that is larger than what is allowed for your account, the following message will appear at the bottom of the screen when you attempt to press F1 to start the report:

Employee Code REPORT DAYS LIMITED TO nnn

(where "Employee Code"is the user's login code and ”nnn” is the limit imposed on the number of days.

10. RUN TYPE

Enter:

L = Label only; prints customer labels

Z = Zip File; creates a flat file of customer names and addresses in /usr/carsplus directory and titles it ZIPFIL.DAT.

B = Both; creates both customer labels and ZIPFILE flat file.

EXAMPLE: Type L(RET).

11. ZIP FILE MODE

Enter:

C = Create a New file: Creates ZIPFILE flat file.

A = Add to Existing Files: Adds new customer records to current ZIPFILE flat file (see Field 11).

EXAMPLE: Type C (RET).

12. PAPER TYPE

Enter:

1 = if your printer takes continuous feed (tractor feed) labels.

2 = if your printer takes individual cut sheets of labels (for most ink jet and laser printers).

EXAMPLE: Type 1 (RET).

13. INCLUDE OPT OUT CUSTOMERS

A field in the Customer file allows a block to be in effect at the request of the customer. Customer records that have the field set to "Y" can be excluded from the Selected Customer Reports and the Selected Customer Labels programs. Enter:

Y = Yes, include customer records regardless of their Opt Out preference.

N = No, do not include those customer records flagged with the Opt Out block.

14. ADDRESS TYPE

If the extended address mode of CAR+ is being used, this field allows you to limit the labels to a particular address type such as the home address, employer address, billing address, etc.

15. SORT ORDER

Enter one of the following words to select the sort order. Press RET to default to Number.

       
       

NUMBER = Numerical by Customer Number

NAME = Alphabetical by the customer's last name

ZIP = Numerical by Zip Code

16. PRINT/ DISPLAY

P = Print a hard copy of this report on Accounting Forms Printer. See the Edit Terminal Records Chapter for instructions on how to assign printers.

D = Display this report on your terminal screen. See the General Data Entry Instructions chapter on how to control the screen display.
