Some Canada locations use an outside service to run a check on Canadian driver's licenses when opening a RA. This chapter address the set up and function of this verification process.
II. REQUIRED SET-UP STEPS
A. OPTION SET UP
Set up an Option Code and Option Rate for an option that will be applied automatically to a RA when the drivers license verification is required. Remember to also update the Percent Matrix records if this charge should be subject to percentage taxes and/or fees.
B. EDIT MISC CONTROL FIELDS
Enter data in the following fields:

Enter the Option Code of the fee in this field.Page 7, Field 15 DL CHK AFTER
Enter a number of days since the last rental that, when reached, will trigger the drivers license check. For example, entering 90 in this field means that if the last time the customer rented was more than 90 days ago, a drivers license verification should be done.Page 7, Field 16 DL RE-CHK
Enter a number of days since the last drivers license check that, when reached, will trigger a new drivers license check. For example, entering 120 in this field means that if the last time the drivers license was verified was more than 120 days ago, a new verification should be made.
III. RENTAL COUNTER INSTRUCTIONS
A. RAs that are exempt from the verification
The following circumstances exempt RAs from the driver's license verification:
- The RA has a voucher (SVV, FVV, Tour, or Insurance)
- The RA has a CDPID
- The customer is a Number1 Club number
- The RA is a multi-month rental (note that 'longterm rentals are not exempt).
- The renter's license is not from Canada
- The customer has rented before and the last time the license was checked falls within the approved period. (See Edit Misc. Control Fields, "DL CHK AFTER" field.
- The customer has rented before that the last rental falls within the approved period. (See Edit Misc Control Fields, "DL RE-CHK" field.)
B. Opening a RA for rentals that are subject to the verification.
At the time of requesting an estimate of charges, the following question is displayed:
DID YOU DO A DRIVER'S LICENSE CHECK?Enter:
Y = the RA will be marked that the license was verified, and the verification fee will be added to the RA.
N = the verification should have been done, but was not. The verification fee will not be added to the RA.
After the fee is applied if additional data is entered that makes the rental exempt from the verification logic, the following message will display after pressing F1 to save the RA. The verification fee will be removed:
