DAMAGE COST HIERARCHY

The Damage Cost Pop-Up window is used to display records entered via this program. Because records can be entered with Location Codes or without them, with Vehicle Model Codes and Years or without them, a hierarchy is in place to determine which records will be available in the pop-up window.

The hierarchy, from highest to lowest is:

1. Location/Model/Year

2. Model/Year

3. Location/Model

4. Model

5. Location

6. All 3 blank (no location, no model, no year)

Matches of data from level one take the highest priority and, thus, take precedence over all other records. All eligible records are displayed - some may be an exact match for the Location, Model and Year; others may be a match only on Model, and yet others may be generic to all locations, Models, and Years.

An example of a matrix for hubcaps and mirrors is shown below to illustrate the hierarchy:

. ITEM	LOCATION	M0DEL MODEL YEAR	COST
A HUBCAP MUSTANG 03 85
B HUBCAP MUSTANG 04 90
C HUBCAP MUSTANG 83
D HUBCAP 75
E HUBCAP GRAND CHEROKEE 85
F MIRROR LAX 55
G MIRROR TUS GRAND CHEROKEE 60
H MIRROR GRAND CHEROKEE 75
I MIRROR 50

Using the matrix above the following observations can be made in regard to which items will display in the Damage Costs Matrix pop-up window:

1. If at the LAX location, and a 04 Mustang, rows B and F would display.

2. If at the LAX location, and a 02 Mustang, rows C and F would display.

3. If at the TUS location, and any year Taurus, rows D and G would display.

4. At any location (other than TUS) and any year Grand Cherokee, rows E and H would display.

5. At the TUS location, any year Grand Cherokee, rows E and G would display.

6. At any location and any year Caravan, rows D and I would display.
