Use this program to create codes that will be used in building a matrix of damage costs. The matrix is used on the Damage Entry screen to access the cost assessed for common damage to vehicles. Using the Codes created here, the damage amounts are entered in the Edit Damage Costs program where they can be made sensitive to the make, model and year of the vehicle.

To access the Edit Damage Codes program, type EDTDMCD (RET) at any menu "OPTION:" field or the appropriate line number on the Damage Control Files menu. The screen will then display:

Enter data as follows:

1. CODE

Enter up to 10 alphanumeric characters to represent a code for damage that occurs.

EXAMPLE: Type DENTFL (RET).

2. DAMAGE DESCRIPTION

Enter up to 40 characters for a description of the damage code.

EXAMPLE: Type DENT FRONT LEFT (RET).

3. SECTION

Enter up to 12 characters to represent a "section" or region of the vehicle where the damage occurred. The choices residing in the damage cost matrix will be sorted by section. (Note: "Sections" are not defined elsewhere, so the system will accept any entry up to 12 characters such as: INTERIOR, FRONT, REAR, DRIVER SIDE, GLASS.)
