Hertz publishes a list of current locations on the HertzPartners website. This list is continually updated by Hertz as locations open, close or change address. Using the locations from the "official list", the CARS+ program Merge Hertz Location File is used to merge the locations into your CARS+ Customer file as foreign locations.

For Thermeon customers who have already set up records for foreign locations, prior to the first merge Thermeon's Customer Support Dept. runs a program that changes the Customer Type for all of the existing foreign locations to "OLDF" or "OLDL" depending on if the record was set up as Customer Type "F" (foreign corporate location) or "L" (licensee foreign location). In addition, each of the old Customer records is entered in the Location Conversion File. The old location codes can be referenced to the new codes by using the Edit Location Conversion Records program.

Once the conversion record is saved, run the Convert Location Codes program which will update all related files (Drop Charges, RAs, Vehicles, etc.) This update program can be run as many times as needed. Each time a record with the old location code is encountered, it should be converted to the new code using the Edit Location Conversion program and the Convert Location Codes program.

To access the Edit Location Conversion Records program, type EDLOCCVT (RET) at any menu "OPTION:" field or the appropriate number on thE Hertz One-Way Menu. The screen will then display:

User Tip: After saving the record, run the Convert Location Codes program in order to update all related files such as the RA File, Drop Charge records, Vehicle File, etc. The update program can be run as many times as necessary. Therefore, any time an old foreign location code is encountered, it can be converteed to the new code using these 2 programs. First, created the conversion record here. Then process the conversion in the Convert Location Codes program.
