I. INTRODUCTION

Some rental operations have locations in different time zones. This chapter lists the steps necessary to set up time zones within CARS+.

II. SET UP

A. USER ACCESS FILE

When a user is set up to access CARS+, part of the set up in the operating system is designating their time zone. This is the time zone for their default location. If all of the locations of the operation are in the same time zone, no further set up in CARS+ is needed.

Note: If the user's time zone is later changed in the system, the change is not reflected in this field.

B. EDIT LOCATIONS

If there are locations in different time zones, the proper time zone must be entered in each Location record. See page 6, Field 20.

Data is entered into this field by way of a pop-up window. From the field, press Shift/F7. Initially it will display as follows:

The list is a list of time zones in the world, mostly organized by continent (e.g. America, Europe, Asia) or sometimes by country (e.g. US, Mexico, Canada, Brazil). The time zone codes usually include a city name; that is a major city in a particular time zone. You do not need to enter a specific timezone for "summer/daylight savings" time -- the time zones will be used for both normal and "summer/daylight savings" time.

You can search the list by entering a few letters for the timezone code and pressing enter (this field is case sensitive).

For example, typing 'Eu' will bring up a list of countries in Europe:

Use the up and down arrow keys to scroll to select the time zone of the rental location.

II. CHANGING TIME ZONES

When the user changes location using Change User Environment to a location with a different time zone, a pop-up window is shown with the current time (in the new time zone):
