Metroplex Logic: If using the metroplex logic for fleet planning and availability, a Time Period record must also be created for the Group Location. It is highly recommended that the Time Period records for all locations in a metroplex group use the same values for each of the 12 time periods available. This also applies to the Time Period record for the metroplex group itself. If this is not the case, changes to the fleet size and the number of commitments may appear to report in the wrong time period. Please refer to the section titled "NOTES ON SETTING UP METROPLEX GROUPS AND CLASS GROUPS" of the manual chapter Introduction to Fleet Planning for details.
To access the Edit Time Periods program, type EDITTIM (RET) at any menu "OPTION:" field or the appropriate line number on the Location Control Files menu. The screen will then display:

1. LOCATION |
Enter up to 6 alpha numeric characters representing a Location Code for which the Time Periods will apply. EXAMPLE: Type TUS (RET) |
|
FIELDS 2 - 12 TIME PERIODS |
In each of these fields, use the selected time format to enter the exact hour and minute that each time period begins. The following guidelines in defining periods should be considered: 1. Period 1 always begins at 12:00 midnight (0000 for military time) and cannot be changed. 2. The last period entered will run from its starting time until 11:59 pm (2359 military time). This does not have to be time period 12. 3. A day may be split into 1 to 12 time periods. Leaving Fields 2 through 12 blank will result in a single 24 hour period for each day. Multiple time periods allow Fleet Planning programs to recognize that a vehicle scheduled to return in one period will be available for re-renting in a later period on the same day. If a day is to be split into less than 12 periods, leave the unused fields empty. 4. Each period may vary in length so that busier times of the day may have several short time periods while low activity portions of the day may have lengthier time periods. EXAMPLE: Enter times as follows: in Field 2 Type 0600A (RET) |
The screen will then display:
