Guidance Note:
Thermeon Europe recommends and supports only the use of HP LaserJet printer’s that are network enabled. e.g. The HP LaserJet 1200 with a Buffalo wireless print server. If you wish to use a different printer, then you will need to get your hardware installers to set-up the printer and any work that requires our help will be chargeable on a time basis. We also suggest the use of email for reports, invoices, or copies of rental agreements, to save on paper. To have this set-up please contact support@thermeoneurope.com who will set it up and show you how to use it.
This document covers the set up of printers under Windows 2000 and XP operating systems. If you are using Windows 95 or 98, please contact support@thermeoneurope.com for additional information.
Before starting, your printer must be working under the windows operating system. To check this, run a TEST PAGE to the printer. If your printer has not been set-up, under Windows 2000 or XP, contact your hardware installer.
Will need to obtain the following information:
-Print server IP address
-Device port i.e. port number that the printer is plugged into the printer server. This is referenced as LPTx where x is the port number.
Steps to setup printers for CARS+ Internet:
1. Click on the ‘Start’ button in the lower left had corner of the pc.
2. Select ‘Settings’ then select ‘Printers’
3. Select ‘Add a Printer’ then click on ‘next’
4. Select local printer (even if it is a network printer) & then ‘next’

5. Select ‘Create a new port’ & then ‘next’

6. Enter the IP address for the print server in ‘ Printer Name or IP Address’. It will not be the address shown here.
7. Enter a port name & then select ‘next’. The port name is only a reference name to the printer attached to the print server.
8. Select the ‘Device Port’. This is the physical port in which the printer is attached to the print server. If it’s attached to port 1 then select ‘LPT1’. If it’s attached to port 2 then select ‘LPT2’ for the port. Then click ‘next’

9. Select the manufacture and printer type for your printer. If the printer is a HP LaserJet 1200 series, select ‘HP’ & ‘HP LaserJet 1200 Series PCL 6’. If this is not present, select have disk and get the printer driver from the CD (CD that comes with the printer). Windows has most of the major printer drivers already listed. Then select ‘next’

10. If the printer driver is already installed for your printer, select “ Keep existing driver (recommended) “. Then select ‘NEXT’

11. Give the printer one of the following names:
CARS+Forms
(Rental
Agreements)
CARS+Reports
(CARS+ and Accounting Reports)
CARS+Special
(Accounting Forms)
Each computer should have all 3 printers setup. You will need to repeat the steps from 3 to 14.
NOTE: the format of the printer name is important. The word CARS must be in capitals and Forms/Reports and Special must have the leading letter capitalised. There are no spaces in the printer name.

11.Then select ‘yes’ or ‘no’ depending on if you want this printer to be the default printer for the computer and then select ‘next’
12. Select ‘Do not share this printer’. Then select ‘next’

13.Print a text page to check everything is ok. If the page is OK then select finished.
You now need to add the two remaining cars+ printers on to the computer. Then it is ready for printing from within cars+.
