Use this program to set up separate fleets within the operation. By creating separate fleet types, fleet reports can be run for a "fleet type" if desired rather than for the entire fleet.

Examples of fleet types are:

Leasing fleet

Rental fleet

Car fleet

Truck fleet

RV fleet

Motorcycle fleet

Note: Vehicles that belong to any of these new fleet types should to be loaded directly into Vehicle Inventory Control under "Fleet Type."

To access the Edit Fleet Type Codes program, type EDFLTY (RET) at any menu "OPTION:" field or the appropriate line number on the Fleet Control Files menu. The screen will then display:

Enter data as follows:

1. FLEET TYPE

Enter one alphanumeric character to represent a type code for part of the fleet.

EXAMPLE: Type D (RET).

User tip: There are 2 Fleet Type Codes that are reserved for a particular user. All other users should avoid using these codes:

L = Lease vehicles. Can be used only at locations defined as lease locations.

F = Fleet Management. Can be used only at locations defined as handling fleet management units.

All other users should avoid using these two Fleet Type Codes.

2. DESCRIPTION

Enter up to 30 characters for a description.

EXAMPLE: Type DAILY RENTAL ONLY.

3. LEASE USE?

Enter:

Y = Yes, this type is part of the leasing module logic.

N = No, this type is not part of the leasing module logic.

EXAMPLE: Type N (RET).

4. INTERNATIONAL USE?

In some countries, the government gives a tax benefit for vehicles that are purchased for incoming foreign tourists. The benefit requires that the vehicle only be used for renters whose country is foreign to the renting location. Specifically, if the renter's home address has a country code that is NOT the same as the opening location's address country then a rental will be allowed using a vehicle from this Fleet Type. If the two country codes match, an error message will be presented: "VEHICLE CANNOT BE USED ON DOMESTIC RENTALS, SELECT ANOTHER."

Y = Yes, this vehicle is used for renters whose country is foreign to the renting location.

N = No, (or blank) this vehicle is not used for renters whose country is foreign to the renting location, or this tax benefit is not applicable.

EXAMPLE: Type N (RET).
