Initial Install Instructions

Instructions for Installing CARS+AbsoluteSSH on a fresh install, if you are upgrading please follow the upgrade steps below once you have completed them then follow these steps. Read all instructions first before beginning. To access, use either option 1 - webXG or 2 - carsplus for instructions

  1. Log into webXG using your stardard cars+ login, then select Applications from the menu and cars+ to dwonload the client program.
  2. Log into carsplus.thermeon.com.au (au for Asia/Pacific Region only) select Admin, then click on Download cars+AbsoluteSSH.
  3. After downloading is complete, open the download folder, named "carsplus_download.zip". This is a compressed folder and the icon shouldlook like a folder with a zipper running through the middle of it. Open the folder by double-clicking on it.
  4. Once the folder opens, click the link at the top left to "Extract All Files". After extracting the files, a new window will open.
  5. Click on the file named "CARS+Internet-Setup.exe". Follow the installation wizard by clicking the “Next” button when prompted.
  6. At the end of the installation, you will receive a message regarding updating your computers registry. NOTE: This message may be “hiding” behind another message stating that the software must be restarted. If you see the “restart” message first, look for another window behind it with the registry message. Click "OK" when prompted to update the Registry.
  7. Then click "Finish". When installation is complete, your PC will be rebooted. The message says the software will be restarted, but in actuality, it will reboot your computer. If you have any unsaved work in other programs, make sure that gets saved first.
  8. The installation will create a new program group named "Thermeon". Click on the “Start” button (Windows XP) or the Windows Logo (Windows Vista or Win 7). Look for a new program group named “Thermeon”. Click on “Thermeon”, then on the item within that group named "CARS+AbsoluteSSH".
  9. Upon logging in for the first time with CARS+AbsoluteSSH, you will receive a warning message regarding the ssh key. Click on the button labeled "Accept and Save".
  10. You will then be prompted for your username and password. Enter this information just as you have always done in the past.

Upgrade Instructions

Before upgrading CARS+AbsoluteSSH please first ensure you remove the current installed copy. To do this follow these steps:

  1. Log out of all CARS+ sessions and close down CARS+AbsoluteSSH.
  2. Go to the windows control pannel and select Add/Remove Programs.
  3. Inside the Add/Remove Programs window you will see CARS+AbsoluteSSH in the list of program, select it then select remove. Follow all the onscreen prompts.
  4. At the end of the Uninstall you should be prompted to reboot your PC. Please close and save any open work you have and then reboot.
  5. Once your computer has restarted then follow the standard install instructions above.

Licence Issues

If after installing the current version of CARS+AbsoluteSSH you get a license warning of any type please follow the steps below to resolve this.

  1. Ensure you have rebooted your PC after installing the client.
  2. Open a windows file browser and check c:\Windows to see if there is a file called absolutetelnet.trg in that directory, if it is then please remove the file and reboot you PC once more.
  3. After the reboot again open your windows file browser and go to c:\Program Files\CARS+AbsoluteSSH in here you will see the update license file absolutetelnet.trg. Please double click on this file which will attempt to access it. You will then be prompted to associate the file with an application, choose the following program c:\Program Files\CARS+AbsoluteSSH\Program\absolutetelnet.exe. When you do that you will get a message box saying it has applied the new license after which you can start up the connection client normally.
  4. Please note on 64bit windows machines the correct path for the CARS+AbsoluteSSH directory will be c:\Program Files(x86)\CARS+AbsoluteSSH.
