I. INTRODUCTION

In order to provide roadside assistance to their renters, Hertz Australia contracts with a third party company to provide the service. The following features in CARS+ facilitate this service.

II. SET UP

A. EDIT WARRANTY CODES

Use this file to create single character codes that will be entered on the Model Code.

B. EDIT MODEL CODES

A field in the Edit Model Code screen is used to designate whether the model qualifies for roadside warranty:

29.RSA WARRANTY

This field is reserved for Hertz Australia. All other users should skip this field.

Hertz Australia users should enter a single character representing a valid Warranty Code.(Warranty Codes are created in the Edit Warranty Codes program located on the Fleet Control Files Menu.)

Examples:

Y = Model is covered by manufacturer's roadside warranty

N = Model is not covered by manufacturer's roadside warranty

X = Model is not eligible for any roadside warranty

EXAMPLE:Type Y (RET)

C. CREATE THE RSA DIRECTORY

Prior to generating the first report, the "rsa" directory must be created off of the base CARSDIR directory. (It needs to be created only once.) Contact Thermeon's Customer Support Dept. to have this directory created for you.

III. GENERATING THE REPORT

In order to register their vehicles for this service, Hertz must provide the service company with an ascii file containing information about their fleet on a semi-weekly basis. A CARS+ program is used to generate this download report.

A. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE DOWNLOAD

To access this program, type RSARPT at any menu "OPTION" or the appropriate number on the Hertz Australia Menu.

Press "F1" to begin.

Data is included on all vehicles in the fleet except for those vehicles that have a Sold status (S) and those whose Model Code shows a "X" in the RSA Warranty field. For each vehicle, several pieces of data is included in a tab delimited record such as unit number, owning location, purchase date, license plate, make, model, etc.

BATCH NUMBERS: Each report is assigned a batch file number of up to 3 digits. The batch numbers are assigned sequentially and when "999" is reached, the numbers will automatically to "1". If necessary, the batch number sequencing can be changed by Thermeon's Customer Support Dept. using the Edit Next RSA Number program (EDNXRSA).
