Many rental operations offer optional equipment such as portable GPS units, child restraint seats, ski racks, handtrucks, etc. In order to know the availability and to manage the rental of these non-vehicle items, similarly to how vehicles are managed in CARS+, they can be defined as "inventory units".

Use this program to enter and edit inventory records for non-vehicle assets.

User tip: These units can also be entered into the system using the Vehicle Inventory Control program. However, entering the assets there takes longer because more data entry is required.

Certain other control files must be set up prior to in-fleeting these assets. Refer to the chapter titled Appendix – Tracking Optional Equipment for more information.

To access the program, type ASSETINV (RET) at any menu "OPTION:" field or the appropriate number on the Fleet Control Files Menu. The screen will then display:

Example: Type N_((RET).

8. PRICING CODE

Enter up to 2 alphanumeric characters to indicate which pricing code applies to this unit. This field may have default data supplied by the Model Code File. The Pricing Code is a required field. This code is used to associate each unit with a specific option rate.

If the field in the Model Code has an Option Code entered, this field is populated with "S".

This field is used to designate the Option Code for this unit. Each time the unit is rented, the corresponding Option Charge will be automatically applied to the RA.
