The System Announcements program is used to edit (or read) a message that can display when users login to the system. Some examples of uses for these announcements are:
Reminders to sell upgrades if vehicles are available
Notice that a rate or a special is no longer available
Weekend rentals on sale
No walk up rentals allowed because fleet is tight
New location is opening
New vehicle class(es) will be added to the fleet soon
Business announcements of an upcoming company event
Congratulations to employee of the month

User tip: In order to create or edit a message, the user must be so designated in the Edit User Access File. (Refer to the field "Edit Bulletin" on page 3.)

User tip: In order for the announcements to display, turn on this feature in Edit Misc Control Record. Refer to the field "DISPLAY LOGON MSG" (Page 8, Field 11). Possible settings are:
Y = Turn on system announcements. The announcement will display when the user first logs in.

A = Turn on system announcements. The announcement will display when the user first logs in as well as when they login again while on an existing session.

N (or blank) = System announcements will not be displayed

To access the System Announcements program, type ANNOUNCE (RET) at any menu "OPTION:" field or the appropriate line number from the System Configuration Menu.


If the user has the ability to edit the message, the screen will display numbered lines. Enter or edit messages are appropriate. Example:

2 TODAY AND TOMORROW FOR UPGRADES AND WALK UP RENTALS!!

If the user does NOT have the ability to edit the message, the screen will display the message without line numbers as shown below:
