To access Who Is Locking a File, type WHOLOCK (RET) at any menu "OPTION:" field or the appropriate line number on the System Management menu.The following screen will display:

In most cases, a locked record occurs because a user loads a record to a
program which will need to update that record and then, prior to saving,
disconnects his/her session without exiting the program. For instance,
leaving a previously saved RA on either an Open or Close RA screen will
not only lock the RA record, it can also lock the Vehicle and Customer
records and, in the case of Open RA, can lock the Reservation record.

It is not possible to precisely determine the user who is locking a
specific record (RA, Vehicle, etc.). This program will return the
name of the user with the oldest lock on the file, which in most cases is
the offending user. In some cases, a process of elimination will be
required whereby it will be necessary to remove several user locks before the
offending user is found.

The procedure is to use this program to determine the user most likely
locking the particular record of interest. You will then need to shadow (connect
to) that user's CARS+ session and exit them from whatever program they are
in, back to a menu. If you see that the user had the problem record on
his/her screen, that should solve the problem. If the user did not
have the problem record on his/her screen, you will need to run this
program again until you find the offending user.

Note: This will require that either:
a) You know the session secret for all your users, or
b) Your account is configured so that you can shadow your users
without knowing their secret. Please contact Thermeon Customer
Support to have this capability set up.

This program is not effective when a user has locked him/herself by using
the Hot Menu. Example: A user loads Vehicle #123456 to an Open RA screen,
and then prior to saving, uses the Hot Menu to go to the Vehicle Inventory
File and attempts to access the same vehicle. In this case, when you
shadow the offending user, you will get the same screen as they have, where
you are not allowed to exit the program. In this instance, you will need
to contact Thermeon Customer Support.

After returning to CARS+, type [Ctrl-Z] to return to the Switchboard

and then shadow this user using option #2. Use Esc to exit the user

from the program and return the user to a menu. Then type [Ctrl-Z]

to return to the Switchboard and choose option #1 to return to your

own session.
