It may be simply that the wrong unit number was entered and needs to be corrected.
Alternatively, some licensees are assigned a range of vehicle numbers and, therefore, must recycle the numbers after a period of time. If you want to keep the old vehicle history records on the system, you can do the following:
Instead of selling and purging the old inventory record, change the unit’s number using this program.
For example, assume unit # 12345 was sold 2 years ago
and now that number needs to be used for a new vehicle. Rather than purging the old record, change unit # 12345 to A12345. The system will then have no record of unit # 12345 and it can be used
to in-fleet the new vehicle. If the number needs to be recycled a second time, use B12345.
The Change Vehicle Number program does the following:
Vehicle Inventory file
Rental Agreement file
Vehicle History file
Non- Rev Movement file
Damage file
Notes file
Physical Inventory file
Reservation file
Vehicle Sales file
Quote file
as well as several auxiliary files
Be forewarned, however, that changing a vehicle number will likely require a significant amount of processing time due to the fact that all of the files listed above need to be updated with the change.
To access the Change Vehicle Number program, type CHGVEH (RET) at any "OPTION:" field or the appropriate line number on the Fleet Menu. The screen will then display:
| OPTION: CHANGE VEHICLE NUMBER 1 Current Vehicle Number 2 New Vehicle Number 3 Update Custs# N 1DO CHNG 2 3ERASE 4 5BACKUP 6 7HELP 8 |

PRESS "F1" AT "OPTION:" TO BEGIN PROCESSING.
