This menu contains items that are used mainly by the individuals responsible for the management of your CARS+ system. The items included here are:
Security System Menu
These programs are used to grant or remove access to the CARS+ software to employees.
Purge Menu
These programs are used to remove old unneeded data from your system.
System Configuration Menu
Configuration menus are used to set up new terminals and printers on your system.
Mail Menu
The mail programs are used to read messages produced by your computer and to send and receive messages from other users.
In addition to the above menus, the System Management Menu included the following two programs:
RUN A PROGRAM
Occasionally, it is necessary for a user to execute a program that does not appear on any of the standard menus. This could be a special clean-up or custom program supplied by your software supplier. The Run A Program option is used to call and execute these miscellaneous programs.
The steps for using this program are as follows:
1. At any menu "OPTION:" field, type RUN (RET) or enter the appropriate number on the Systems Operations Menu.
2. The following field will display at the bottom of the screen:
NAME OF PROGRAM ___________________
At this new field, enter the program directory and the name of the program you wish to run and press RET.
3. Once the program is completed, the screen will return to the menu.
ACCESS SYSTEM PROMPT
At times, it would be nice to be able to "jump" out of the CARS+ programs to your operating system prompt and ten return to CARS+ without having to go through all the log-on steps. The Access System Prompt program gives you that ability.
The steps for using this program are as follows:
1. At any menu "OPTION:" field, type SHELL (RET) or enter the appropriate number on the System Management Menu.
2. The cursor will appear next to a operating system prompt.
At this prompt you can issue system commands. Remember now that you are at the operating system level, most commands are entered in lower case letters.
3. To exit the system prompt and return to CARS+, type "exit" (RET).
