Use this program to quickly open a record of the movement of a vehicle between locations.

This is one of several Non-Revenue movement programs. To see a complete list of all Non-Rev programs and a brief description of the differences, see the table at the start of the chapter Non-Revenue Movement Entry.

When a shuttle movement is saved, it opens a standard Non-Rev Movement which can be printed. Furthermore, the record can be brought up on the Non-Rev Movement screen to be viewed or edited. This program does NOT close shuttle movement. To close tickets created by this program, use Non-Rev Movement Entry.

Like standard Non-Rev Movements, it also creates a Vehicle History record (for the Non-Rev Movement). Additionally, when the vehicle is processed through Make Vehicle Available at the new location, the Non-Rev Movement will be closed automatically.

To access the program, type SHUTTLE (RET) at any menu "OPTION:"field or the appropriate number on the Non-Rev Movement Sub-menu of the History/Maintenance Menu. The screen will then display:

Enter data as follows:

1. VEHICLE # or

LICENSE #

The data entered in the "Access Vehicle by LIcense Plate" field in Edit Main Control Record controls whether this field is for the Vehicle # or the License plate #.

For the Vehicle, enter up to 6 alphanumeric characters representing the unit number.

For the License, enter up to 11 alphanumeric characters representing the license plate of the vehicle.

EXAMPLE: Type 50209

After pressing (RET), the following fields will be populated with default data:

  • Out KMs/Mls: Current odometer reading
  • Out Date/Time: Current date and time
  • Out Location: Users current location
  • Due in date (not displayed) is set to the current date and time

2. OUT KMS/MLS

The default value displayed here is the current odometer reading from the vehicle record. Press (RET) to accept the default or enter a different odometer reading if needed.

3a. OUT DATE/ TIME

This field defaults to the current date and time but can be changed to a date/time in the past if necessary.

4. OUT LOC

This field displays the user's current location and can be changed if necessary.

5. IN LOC

Enter up to 6 alphanumeric characters representing the location where the vehicle is going.

6a. REASON CODE

Enter a valid Non-Rev Reason Code. This is a required field. Codes are set up in the Edit NonRev Reason Codes program on the Fleet Control Files menu.

6b. STAT (Status)

This field defaults to the status that is defined in the Reason Code record. It may be changed.

6c. DESC

This field displays the description of the Reason Code and cannot be changed here.

7a. DRIV #
A field in the Edit Misc Control Fields program is used to control whether or not a valid Customer Number is required in this field in order to process shuttle movement. If required, enter an existing CARS+ Customer Number for the driver. Or use the F6 Search feature from the "OPTION" field to search for a valid Customer record.

(If the customer type is "BAD" or the customer type does not allow rentals, it cannot be used.)

Data entered in the following fields can be used to update the information in the customer record. But a new customer record cannot be created from this program.

7b. LNAME
(Last Name)
Press (RET) to accept the last name from the customer record or enter up to 12 characters representing the last name.
7c. FNAME
(First Name)
Press (RET) to accept the first name from the customer record or enter up to 18 characters representing the first name.
8a. DRIV LIC

Enter up to 20 alphanumeric characters for the driver's license number.

EXAMPLE: Type S0502MMG/

8b. ST
(State or Province)

For drivers with a US or Canadian driver's license, enter the two character alpha code for the state or province that issued the license.

For drivers with licenses issued by other countries, enter the appropriate country code for the issuing country.

8c. EXP
(Expiration date)

Using the selected date format, enter the date when this license will expire.

EXAMPLE: Type 102016 (RET)

9. NOTE
Enter up to 40 characters for a Non-Rev Note.

The screen will then display:

PRESS "F1"AT "OPTION:" TO SAVE .

Upon pressing F1 to save the entry, the next Non-Rev number from the Location record of the user's current location will be assigned to the transaction. As with other transactions in CARS+, if this is the most recent movement of the vehicle, the current location, odometer, status code, and status date/time in the vehicle record will be updated,
