Hertz Locations within the US and Canada should use the US & Canada merge program.

1BEGIN 2 3ERASE 4 5 6 7HELP 8

Enter data as follows:

1. RATE GROUP

Most CARS+ users should accept the default of "ALL" in this field by pressing (RET).

However, to limit the update to certain rate sets (such as when an operation is part of a shared system), enter a Rate Group. A Rate Group is comprised of one or more Rate Sets. In order to run this program for a response other than "ALL", at least one Rate Group must be set up. Refer to the chapter of the manual titled Edit Rate Group Codesfor more information.

EXAMPLE: Press (RET)

2. TEMPLATE RATE PROD CODE

Enter the name of the Rate Product whose rules are used as a template for receiving CDPID rates.

EXAMPLE: Type TEMP (RET)

3. RATES EFFECTIVE DATE

Enter the first day of the month for which these Rates are effective. If using CARS+ Internet, the date will be provided in the e-mail message from Thermeon. If using CARS+ on a stand-alone system, this date will be on the diskette label.

This date must be the current date or a date in the past. If you attempt to enter a future date, the following message will display:

EFFECTIVE DATE CANNOT BE GREATER THAN TODAY

EXAMPLE: Type 080104 (RET)

4. CLONE FROM EXISTING RULES ON NEW

Enter:

N = If a rate change is found for an existing rules record, a new record is created using the product code and effective date and the rules from the Template Rate Code designated in Field 2.

Y = If a rate change is found for an existing rules record, a new record is created using the product code and effective date and the rules from the existing rate product.

EXAMPLE: Type N (RET)

User tip: Note that this field applies only to changes found in the Rates page and not the Rules part of the record. This field also works in conjunction with Field 5.

5. FORCE NEW RULES RECORD FOR EVERY RATE

Enter:

N = No, it is not necessary to make a global rules change to all of the CDP rates

Y = This response should be used if you want to make a global change to the RULES of ALL of your CDP rates. In order to do that, first make the change you want to impose on your Template Rate product. Then the response in Field #4 should be "N", and the response in Field #5should be "Y". This, in effect, means that you want to create a new rules record for every CDP rate using the rules from your current Template Rate product and the effective date entered in Field #1.

I = Ignore rate information. No rate information should be processed.

EXAMPLE: Type N (RET)

6. PROCESS IDNAME RECORDS

Y = The file containing the CDP name records (contains the relationship between the company names and the CDPID number) will be rebuilt, replacing the old file with the new information from Hertz.

NOTE: Unless specifically told to do so by Thermeon's Customer Support Dept., you should always enter"Y" in this field.

N = The existing file containing the CDP name records will not be rebuilt or changed in any way.

EXAMPLE: Type Y (RET)

7. PROCESS CONTRACT RECORDS

Y = The file containing the Contract Records will be rebuilt, replacing the old file with the new information send from Hertz.

NOTE: Unless specifically told to do so by Thermeon's Customer Support Dept., you should always enter "Y" in this field.

N = The existing file containing the Contract Records will not be rebuilt or changed in any way.

EXAMPLE: Type Y (RET).

8. COUNTRY CODE

Enter 2 alpha characters representing the country code that Hertz uses for your location.

EXAMPLE: Type MX (RET)

9. ERASE CDPID FILE?

Normally, when the Merge program is run, the existing CDPID file is initialized (erased) and then the new data is loaded into CARS+. When an operation has set up "private" CDPID numbers (ones that Hertz Corporate doesn't know about), those private records should be saved. This field is used for that purpose.

Enter:

Y = Yes, erase the entire existing CDPID file and replace it with the new data.

N = No, do not erase the file. Instead, add new records to the existing file. In order to save private CDPID records, answer "N".

EXAMPLE: Type N (RET)

PRESS "F1" AT "OPTION:" TO SAVE THE RECORD.

Additional Notes about the Merge program:

The CDP Merge program populates the Inter-city Mileage Field and the 1-Way Field (highlighted in bold type below).

OPTION: __ EDIT RENTAL RULES/RATES
Ln Class S Day Week Month Xday Hour Mile IntCty Empl 1Wy Prc
001

IntCty: The Inter-city field is used for an alternate mileage rate that applies to one-way rentals to foreign locations. If the field is blank, the mileage rate in the “Mile” Column is used.

1Wy: There following responses may be entered in the One-way field:

N = One way rentals to foreign locations are not allowed for this class. This is applicable only if the Intercity Chg (Intercity Change to) field on page 1 is blank. If that field is blank (meaning one-way rentals to foreign locations are allowed), this column is used to restrict individual classes from one-way rentals.

M = One way is allowed, and the following message is displayed in Reservations and Open:

SPECIAL INTERCITY CONDITIONS MAY APPLY, CHECK FIELD BULLETIN

Blank = One ways are allowed; no special message displays.
