The “Seamless” application in OKC enables an operation to obtain rates directly from OKC (rather from CARS+) when doing reservations or walk up rentals. In order to configure CARS+ to communicate with Seamless, a control record for each location must be created.

Use this program to:
Refer to the chapter Overview - Seamless Reservations and RAs for more information about setting up and using Seamless logic.

To access the program, type EDITSEAM (RET) at any menu "OPTION:" field or the appropriate number on the Hertz Control Files Sub-Menu (Hertz Programs Menu). The screen will then display:

Enter data as follows:

1. LOCATION
 Enter up to 6 alphanumeric characters representing the Location Code or enter a Group Code that this record applies to.

2. DO RESERVATIONS?
 Indicate if Seamless should be called when making a reservation. Enter:
Y = Yes
N = No

3. MAKE LOCAL RES?
 After the reservation rate is supplied by Seamless, a reservation can be either booked through Seamless in OKC (to be delivered via the reservation interface program) or it can be saved directly in CARS+. Enter:
Y = Yes, save a local reservation directly in CARS+; do not book the reservation via seamless.
N = No, do not save the reservation directly. Instead, the reservation is submitted to Seamless to be delivered via the reservation interface.

User tip: For reservations that are booked directly in CARS+, fields 6 and 12 of this control file do not apply.
4. DO WALK-UP RAs?
 Indicate if Seamless should be called when doing a walk-up RA.
Y = Yes
N = No

5. MAKE RES ON WALK-UP
 When doing a walk up RA, in order to make OKC yield management aware of the walk-up rental, a request to book a reservation in OKC can be made via Seamless. The reservation is transmitted to CARS+ via reservation delivery. However, the reservation interface program is designed to ignore the reservation since the only purpose for it was to alert OKC for yield management purposes. Enter:
Y = Yes, book a reservation in OKC
N = No

6. DO SEAMLESS ON CLOSE?
 This field controls what happens when the closing date or location is different from what was expected. Enter:
Y = Use Seamless to requote the rate and drop charge
D = Use seamless to requote only the drop charge
N = Do not use Seamless to requote the rate or the drop charge

User tip: In order to requote the rate and/or drop charge, the reservation must have come from OKC. (Field 3 above must be set to "N"). When re-quoting a rate, the Seamless system in OKC requires a Hertz Reservation Confirmation number. If an attempt is made to requote rates on a RA where the reservation was booked directly in CARS+, a "Confirmation Missing" message displays.
7. OKC SOURCE CODE
 Enter the Source Code that OKC uses for Seamless reservations.

8. CONVERT CLASS/ COUNTRY/ FOP
 Indicate if it is necessary to convert Class Codes, Country Codes, and FOP Codes in CARS+ to the standard Hertz codes on out bound transmission, and convert the Hertz codes back to the CARS+ codes on inbound transmissions using records in the Conversion Codes file. Enter:
Y = Yes
N = No

9. VENDOR CODE
 Enter the Vendor ID Code that OKC uses to identify your operation.
10. DOES CUST GET BREAK?
 This field refers to a future enhancement of Seamless which is not active at this time.
11. ALLOW PMA?

This field (PMA = Pricing Market Adjustment) controls whether or not the rates received from OKC can be edited. If editing is allowed, a field in the User Access File record is used to control which users are granted this privilege.

Y = Yes, rates can be edited, from either OPEN or RES.

1 = Yes, rates can be edited, but only from RES.

2 = Yes, rates can be edited, but only from OPEN.

N = No, rates cannot be edited.

12. ON OPEN EDITS?
 This field controls what happens when a return date or location is changed on a open RA. Enter:
Y = Use Seamless to requote the rate and drop charge
D = Use seamless to requote only the drop charge
N = Do not use Seamless to requote the rate or drop charge

13. ON CENTRAL RES?
 This field controls whether edits to transactions based on a reservation that was not booked through Seamless should trigger a Seamless Rate Re-quote if either Fields 6 or 12 above require a requote. Enter:

N = No, if rate re-quoting is requested, it will only occur on transactions that were originally booked though Seamless on CARS+.

Y = Yes, if rate re-quoting is requested, it will occur on all transactions.
