Because program vehicles from the same manufacturer often have the same grounding limits, default grounding date and odometer settings can be created so that they are used on Model Codes and Vehicle Inventory records.

Use this program to establish default grounding settings for each manufacturer.

User tip: Creating even a single record in this file will cause ALL "Makes" to be validated in the Edit Model Codes program. Therefore, if Maker Codes are to be used, there must be a code set up for every manufacturer of models in the fleet.

To access the Edit Maker Codes program, type EDITMKR (RET) at any menu "OPTION:" field or the appropriate line number on the Fleet Control Files Menu. The screen will then display:

OPTION: __ EDIT MAKER CODES

1SAVE 2NEXT 3ERASE 4 5BACKUP 6 7HELP 8PRINT

Enter data as follows:

1. MAKER
Enter up to 8 alphnumeric characters representing the manufacturer of the vehicle.

EXAMPLE: Type FORD (RET)

2. DESCRIPTION
Enter up to 50 alphanumeric characters for a description.

EXAMPLE: Type FORD CARS AND MINIVANS (RET)

3. GROUNDING ODOMETER
Enter a default grounding odometer.

This setting will be automatically loaded in the grounding odometer field in the Model Code record which results in it also being loaded in the inventory record when in-fleeting new vehicles.

EXAMPLE: Type 10000 (RET)

4. GROUNDING DAYS
Enter a default number of grounding days. When in-fleeting new vehicles, vehicles of this make will have the number of days added to the purchase date, and the resulting calculation will be automatically entered in the Grounding Date field.

For example, an inventory record for a vehicle purchased March 1 with 180 in this field would cause its Grounding Date to be set to August 28.

EXAMPLE: Type 180 (RET)

Press "F1" at the "OPTION" field to save the record.
