Use the Mark Rates as Purge-able program to:
Due to constant rate edits and downloading rates from a corporate headquarters, the number of records in the Rental Rules and Rates file can increase rapidly. Like most CARS+ files, a purge program exists to delete old unused records. But unlike other purge programs, the Rate Purge can be run so that the only rate records that purge are those with their Status Flag field set to "P". Records can be flagged for purging individually by changing the Status Code to "P" in Edit Rental Rules and Rates. Or multiple records can be globally flagged that way through this program.
For rates that have had numerous edits (thus multiple records with the same Rate Code but various Effective Dates), this program will NOT flag the most recent record for purging - even if its Effective Date is older than the Effective Date entered on the screen. For example, with the rates below:
Rate Code Effective Date
SDL0 01-01-10
SDL0 06-01-10
SDL0 09-01-10
SDL0 01-01-11 (with no more records on file with a more recent Effective Date)
User Tip: Rate records that are flagged for purging will not purge if they are still referenced by a reservation or RA that is still on file (even if those records are very old). But having been flagged as purge-able through this program, the record will no longer be "visible" on rate searches and cannot be used on new reservations or RAs.
Both programs mark rules as purged. The only difference is:
- Mark Rules for Purging has a start date
- Mark Rates for Purging has a cutoff date and time.
