Use this program to:

  • Create 2 character codes used in entering options in the Model Codes File.

Model Options can be entered in the Model Code file in 2 ways:

1. Up to 20 characters of "free-form" text; or

2. As 2 character codes that have been previously set up in the Edit Vehicle Options File. Because the codes can be entered one right after another, as many as 10 options can be entered. Or a blank space can be left between them which would allow as many as 7 options in the 20 space provided.

If you choose to set up Vehicle Options in this program, then you are forced to use those codes in the Model Code program and the Vehicle Inventory program. If you prefer to use free form text in the Option field of those programs, do not create any codes through this program.

To access the program, type VEHOPT (RET) at any menu "OPTION:" field or the appropriate number on the Fleet Control Files Menu. The screen will then display:

Enter data as follows:

1. CODE

Enter 2 alphanumeric characters representing an option code.

EXAMPLE:Type SR(RET)

2. DESCRIPTION

Enter up to 30 alphanumeric characters to describe the code entered in Field 1.

EXAMPLE: Type SUNROOF (RET)

3. MQ FIELD

For the Hertz Canada corporate operation, this field is used to define the corresponding field in the CARRENT record layout. If data is entered in this field (and Field 4 is blank), it indicates that this option is on the vehicle and a "Y" is placed in the corresponding field in the MQ record layout.

EXAMPLE: Type 02 WRK15-SUNROOF (RET)

4. MQ QUANTITY

For the Hertz Canada corporate operation, when fields 3 and 4 are used, this field is used to define a quantity in the MQ record layout, such as the number of cylinders in the engine.
