This program is part of a project developed with Carcloud. It generates a csv file of reservations which will be sent to Carcloud for distribution to renters who have a reservation for the next day.

General information on the Carcloud Project

Phase One involves a one-way communication from CARS+ to the rental customer through Carcloud. Generally, a csv file is sent to Carcloud containing reservation data for reservations with a pick up date of tomorrow. This can be scheduled so that it is run automatically or can be run using this program from the menu. Carcloud then sends a SMS (Short Message Service) message to each renter's smart phone. The message contains:

• basic reservation data (pickup date/time, vehicle class, return date/time)
• rates for up to 3 options that are not already reserved or excluded (defined in Edit Carcloud Controls)
• class codes and upsell rates of the next 3 available classes in the hierarchy
• a url for a photo of the vehicle class reserved

Hertz locations doing Gold service: For gold reservations the message is sent when the RA is preprinted. The message includes the vehicle license plate number, color, model, and stall number for the assigned vehicle.

Phase Two will involve accepting a message back from Carcloud of options and an upsell requested by the renter (in response to the SMS). It will update the reservation accordingly.

Phase Three will involve some type of communication from CARS+ to Carcloud and, therefore, to the renter, once the RA is opened.

There may be more phases developed beyond this.

A reservation must have a cell phone number in order for a message to be sent.

To access the program, type CARCLD (RET) at any menu "OPTION:" field or the appropriate number on the Carcloud Carfirmation submenu of the Reservations Menu. The screen will then display:

Enter data as follows:

1. OPEN LOCATION	For the opening location, enter: Up to 6 alphanumeric characters to select a single location. A Group Name representing several locations (see the Chapter Edit Group Names for a discussion on location groups). Remember, the first character of a Group Name is the plus sign "+". "ALL" to include all location EXAMPLE: Press (RET)
2. BY MOD/ PICKUP DATE	Enter: M = create date/modification date. Open reservations are selected if they have a modification date within the date range entered in the next two fields. The default date is yesterday. P = Pick up date. Open reservations are selected if they have a pick up date within the date range entered in the next two fields. The default date is tomorrow. EXAMPLE: Press (RET)
3. START DATE	Press RET to accept the default, or enter another start date. EXAMPLE: Press (RET)
4. END DATE	Press RET to to accept the default, or enter another end date. EXAMPLE: Press (RET)

PRESS "F1" AT "OPTION:" TO BEGIN .

Reservations excluded from the daily transmission:

• Reservations without a cell phone number are excluded from the csv file.
• Hertz locations doing Gold Service: Gold reservations are sent when the RA is preprinted. They are not sent in the regular daily transmission.

In the csv file there are fields for the following reservation data:

CARS+ Reservation number
Reservation confirmation number
Cell phone number
Phone number
The description of the pick up location (from the Location record)
Pick up date and time
Description of the return location (from the Location record)
Return date and time
Vehicle class and class description
The url of the class (for a picture of the class) (from the Class Code record)

Three option codes with rates. These options are defined in Edit Carcloud Controls.

Upgrade classes and rates. The next 3 classes in the upsell matrix - as long as anticipated utilization is under 80% and there are at least 5 uncommitted units of the class.

Indicator if the reservation is a Hertz Gold reservation. If so (because the RA has been preprinted also included are: vehicle color, model description, license plate number, lot number, and stall number

The csv flie is named: Res_NotificationNNNNN.csv (where NNNNN is a sequentially generated number). It is placed in the directory: $client/carfirmation/outbound
