The Electric Vehicle Control File can be set up to charge the customer to recharge the battery.

A vehicle that is returned with the battery 99 percent charged would normally register at 7/8 (as it's less than 100%). To avoid instances such as this, set up records in this control file that will convert percentages to a reasonable battery level in 8ths.

To access the Electric Vehicle Control Record, type EDTELV (RET) at any menu "OPTION:" field or the appropriate line number on the Fleet Control Files Menu
The screen will then display:

Enter data as follows:

1. CDPID
Enter up to 10 Alpha Numeric characters that represents the CDPID record. (This field is not required)

EXAMPLE: Press (RET)

2. CHARGE FOR BATTERY?

Do you want to charge the customer to recharge the battery? (Yes or No?) The amount charged here is what is specified in the Edit Fuel Rates for fuel type "E".

EXAMPLE: Type Y (RET)

3. PRINT BATTERY LEVEL?

Do you want to print the battery level on the RA? (Yes or No?)

EXAMPLE: Type Y (RET)
Please contact Thermeon Customer Support to have your RA print program altered for this feature.
4. PRINT BATTERY CAP?

If your RA Print Program supports the handling of Electric Vehicle, do you want to print the battery capacity on the RA? (Yes or No?)

EXAMPLE: Type Y (RET)

In the following fields (4-11), enter the percent value at which to round up to the specified battery level in eighths.
NOTE: These fields are optional.
If blank, the "straight" mathematical calculation will be used, e.g., 38% = 3/8.
5. 1/8 PCT
Enter the percent at which the battery level should be rounded up to 1/8 (full).

EXAMPLE: Type 10 (RET)

6. 2/8 PCT
Enter the percent at which the battery level should be rounded up to 2/8 (full).

EXAMPLE: Type 20 (RET)

7. 3/8 PCT
Enter the percent at which the battery level should be rounded up to 3/8 (full).

EXAMPLE: Type 30 (RET)

8. 4/8 PCT
Enter the percent at which the battery level should be rounded up to 4/8 (full).

EXAMPLE: Type 40 (RET)

9. 5/8 PCT
Enter the percent at which the battery level should be rounded up to 5/8 (full).

EXAMPLE: Type 50 (RET)

10. 6/8 PCT
Enter the percent at which the battery level should be rounded up to 6/8 (full).

EXAMPLE: Type 60 (RET)

11. 7/8 PCT
Enter the percent at which the battery level should be rounded up to 7/8 (full).

EXAMPLE: Type 70 (RET)

12. 8/8 PCT Enter the percent at which the battery level should be rounded up to 8/8 (full).

Example: Type 80 (RET)
13. PRINT BATT DESC This field is used to print a different description on the Rental Agreement from what would normally print from the "Long Description Code" that is listed in the Edit Optional Items Record. Enter up to 50 alphanumeric characters that represents the new description here.

Example: Type BATTERY (RET)
Please contact Thermeon Customer Support to have your RA print program altered for this feature.
14. BUFFER PCT
The buffer percent is an allowance granted to the renter as an adjustment (deduction) to the calculation of the EV service charge at the time of Close.

The following examples assume a 5% buffer percentage:

1. Battery charge is 80% at rental time.
a. Customer returns the vehicle with a battery charge of 75 percent or greater: No charge for battery usage.

b. Customer returns the vehicle with a battery charge of 71 percent. Charge for battery use is 4% (80% less the 5% buffer = 75% minus the 71% at return = 4% charge)

2. Battery charge is 70% at rental time.
a. Customer returns the vehicle with a battery charge of 50%. Charge for battery use is 15% (70% minus the 5% buffer = 65% minus the 50% at return = 15%)

3, Battery charge is 87% at rental time.
a. Customer returns the vehicle with a battery charge of 65%. Note that the initial battery out reading will be adjusted by the percentage entered in Field 12 above. In calculating the charge, the rule is that the initial battery reading at Open is the lesser of the actual reading or the 8/8ths percentage entered in Field 12 above. Therefore, initial battery out = 80% minus the 5% buffer = 75% minus 65% at return = charge for 10%.

Example: Type 5 (RET)

15. MIN KM
This feature could be considered a safety grace for the Pre-purchase option when accepted. If the vehicle is driven less than what is listed here, AND if the difference in the amount is in the benefit to the customer, the charge will be based on the KM/miles driven and not the pre-purchased charge.

Example: This field is set at 20 KM and the Pre-purchase charge price was $45.00, but the customer only drove the vehicle 18 miles, or 1/8 of a charge. Which may be set at $10.00. The customer would be charged based on the KM driven at $10.00 rather than the $45.00 pre-purchased price.

If the EV pre-purchase amount should always be charged regardless of the distance driven, leave this field blank. When closing the RA the question regarding calculate charges by distance will not be asked.

16. EV PO ACCT
This field is provided only for Hertz users who report by EDRB or in some other electronic form to OKC.
For EDRB purposes only, a unique GL account number can be entered here for reporting prepaid EV battery charges. If this field is blank, the GL account used in EDRB is the one associated with the “E” option record and it is used for all of the EV battery charges - whether prepaid or charged at Close.

All battery charges are stored in the “E” Option and written to the Misc. Charge array fields in EDRB.

User tip: Within CARS+, all of the EV battery charges - whether prepaid or charged at Close - use the GL account associated with the "E” option set up in Edit Option Codes.

Enter the GL account preferred here:
